Typically, an hour in church puts me to sleep. However, my visit to Catedral de Barcelona was eye opening (not closing) in the sense of all there was to see. It is gorgeous inside with nooks and crannies and saints everywhere (not unlike most cathedrals, I suppose, but I liked this one enough to just chill in a pew for a bit and take it in).
There is some renovation going on, but that does not preclude visiting the rooftop. The view from there is a spectacular combination of the city scape and the port.

Today was a big Carmen day. I made a special stop at the niche that had Santa Carmen. I even deposited a coin which lit up not one but four of the electric votives.
After my visit to the Cathedral, I hit up the Gran Teatre del Liceu for the Opera which happened to be performing Carmen. The theater is gorgeous, and the performance was outstanding complete with audience passion (I've never been when people actually shout "bravo"...I kinda wanted to join in). Funny to watch a French opera with Catalan subtitles; it's ok. You never really need to know what's happening in opera.
