For the entire day that I spent with MACBA in mind yesterday, I literally stumbled upon it after 15 minutes out today. This was great. The museum is a fantastic structure inside and out. As it was a local holiday to celebrate the Virgen of Pilar, things closed early, so I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked. However, while perusing the first floor, I did see the couple who sat across from me on the metro last night; I did not say hello to them either.
I didn't expect to like the exhibits as much as I did. Sometimes contemporary strikeds me as contrived, but it seemed like the permanent collection and the special exhibits alike had all been pretty discerningly selected, and the presentation was top notch. One piece was a series of 48 photographs by Gerhard Richter, and the first face I picked from the bunch was Gustav Mahler. This is not remarkable. However, it was another two for me, as I was recently at the symphony and had quietly mused how much more I liked the Beethoven set than the Mahler.

The inset on the interior wall was the kind of math that I'm good at (i.e., math with words not numbers).
I followed up my two time's a charm discovery of MACBA with a really delectable lunch at which I enjoyed two glasses of wine.
