Now A Word From Our Non-Sponsor: Mado Perruqueries

As the week wound down, and I prepared to leave Barcelona (for now), I spent some extra time just cruising the streets of some of my favorite sections. "El Born" is super cool (you know a place is hip when you can smell nag champa in the air) and not too far off Las Ramblas. There are lots of boutiques and bars and haircut joints. The haircut joints seem to be especially situated in the what would be Little Ethiopia of the El Born (if you could have a sub-barrio, I guess). Anyhow, Mado's shop sign caught my eye. For some reason, despite the uber cool font, a giant hair follicle does not elicit the desire for a haircut--just me, just sayin'.
Despite all of the surrounding taverns and cafes of El Born, these guys still wanted to chip in with a little paella...ok, a lot of paella. It smelled so freakin' good, but I couldn't figure out how to get any (there's a first time for everything).
Many of the shops' doors (especially in El Born and the neighboring La Ribera) are painted (mostly in artful tags) but this one was especially detailed and attractive (to me). I've also caught lots of live music, including an exceptional cellist and also a guy who sang "Halleujah" outside the Barri Gotic's cathedral (good cross marketing) like nobody's business; needless to say the seats of my pants are getting dirty from all of the sidewalk time.
Another indulgence (not pictured) has been the many gelaterias and the pastry shops. Oh, the pastry shops! I splurged on a pastry at Brunnell's Pastiserria and saved it for this morning. Despite not having milk or coffee, it made one hell of a breakfast in bed. Another spot that I've been returning to is Port Vell. It's very pretty and despite the hordes of people it's also very relaxing and peaceful. I like watching the very adroit seagulls gulp down whole fish. So, my question is, if I eat a pastry from Brunnell's every day, will I turn into a pastry; if the seagulls eat fish every day, do they eventually turn into fish; whereby, are there more fish or more seagulls?
