
I stopped into the district "La Sagrada Familia" in order to visit [Antoni] Guadi's church. The church is massive--even for notable churches. Construction began in 1874 (approximately), and Gaudi was commissioned to add his special touche(es) around 1901.

He made more than a mark or two, but in 1926 he was run down by a tram to the point of being unrecognizeable and died a common death. The church remains under construction, and the goal is finish it by 2026 for the Centennial of Gaudi's death.

Yes, that is Christ swinging from the chandelier. Real models were used during the sculpting phase, and the informational foyer on the ground floor had some pictures documenting this part of the project. I just think that would make for a funny Craigslist posting (e.g., "male model wanted to pose on cross for interminable amount of time; please bring briefs.")
