Someday Salamanca
Someday I would like
good reason and/
or opportunity to bring my friends and family to Salamanca.
It's
one of those places that can't
really be
described,
and if it were possible to load
up a bus
for a
weekend trip that's
what would best convey the feeling.
It took 3
hours from Madrid
to cross some of the lovelist terrain (complete
with a
variety of hooves and horns,
although,
my personal
fav is always the moose).
Upon arriving in Salamanca, I
realized that the temperature had dropped considerably despite the increasing daylight.
It was much colder,
and I
could smell fireplaces burning.
It is quaint but not desolate,
and quiet but not untrafficked. As
always,
my favorite time
of day--
lunch,
provided a
great opportunity to soak up the sidewalk activity complete
with live violin by street corner happenstance of a
talented man (
and his dog).
Truthfully, I don't
know if I'
ll ever return to Salamanca
outside of coincidence or chance,
but it deserves a
gold star on the itinerary.
